Artwork Description
This work, from the picture book Ode on the Red Cliffs, is based on Su Shi's timeless masterpieces. It uses ink painting techniques rich in Eastern aesthetic charm to transform the literary traditional artistic conception into a flowing visual poetry. Deliberate empty spaces and dynamic brushstrokes evoke the vast river landscape -- as if floating freely with a single reed, while minimalist figures of Su Shi and his companions merge seamlessly into the scenery.
