Little Fish, Big River

Artwork Description

These are illustrations from a children's fantasy fairy tale Little Fish, Big River. A brave and optimistic little fish became stranded onshore by floodwaters, with his life slipping away. During his final eight days, he met many new friends -- water cabbage, a little bird, a small frog, and others. He also encountered humans who came fishing, experiencing both the unpredictability of fate and the kindness of the world. His resilience and kindness help him grow in ways that transcend even death.

A little fish trapped in a puddle after a flood. Sheltering fearfully beneath a water cabbage, he misses his family and friends from the big river.

The little fish reminisced about the happy times playing with his childhood friend.

As floodwaters recede, countless puddles dot the riverbank. Then come the humans - fishing hunters.

A small bird, different from others, wants to help the little fish. He sought assistance from big birds, but they all had their own hidden agendas.

In his trapped state, the fish wonders: Could there be a creature that flies like birds, leaps like frogs, crawls like ants, swims like fish, and walks like humans?
